A. Christmann Reiterpfad-Hofstück GG Riesling 2016

$82.00

Reiterpfad-Hofstuck is one of Pfalz, and indeed Germany’s great single vineyards. You don’t have to just take our word for it though. You’ll notice ‘GG’ on the front of this bottle. It stands for Grosses Gewächs, an official classification of Germany’s best vineyards for the production of dry Riesling. Sheltered by the Haardt mountains, and planted on red sandstone, fruit is harvested and given a short amount of skin contact before fermentation. The result is an opulent, rich and powerful expression of Riesling.

This family estate is in the hands of father and daughter Steffen and Sophie Christmann. Based in Pfalz, they’re passionate advocates of biodynamics, and make remarkably well balanced wines. Pfalz has a climate that’s relatively warm as far a German wine regions go. Soils are a mix of limestone, clay, and red and yellow sandstone.
