Isole e Olena Chianti Classico 2017
Isole e Olena are based in the Western part of Chianti Classico, a part of Tuscany more moderated by the ocean, producing elegant, perfumed Sangiovese predominant wines. Very much a classic, there’s a sour cherry character, taut structure and minerality. The 2017 Chianti Classico is a blend of
80% Sangiovese, 15% Canaiolo, 5% Shiraz.
The name ‘Isole e Olena’ came about in the 1950s when two adjoining estates, ‘Isole’ and ‘Olena’, were purchased by the De Marchi family and combined to form one. Paolo de Marchi is an industry legend. He’s been at the helm of his family estate since 1976, radically improving the quality of wines produced, so much so that he is now referred to as Mr Sangiovese.
