Clos Henri Chapel Block Blanc de Noirs 2019
This one’s a real charmer. It has a delicate pale pink blush, gentle soft texture balanced by red apple crunch and freshness. From the estate’s Chapel Block, 100% organic Pinot Noir is carefully whole bunch pressed and aged in stainless steel and oak for 10 months before bottling and secondary fermentation.
Clos Henri was established in Marlborough in 2001, but this wine family’s story goes back 10 generations in France. We’ll pick up the story in the 1950’s, when Henri Bourgeois shifted his family's agricultural focus solely to winegrowing, and in particular to the terroir of Sancerre. This is where Sauvignon Blanc is very much at home in the Loire Valley. A couple of generations on and the family recognised how special Marlborough terroir is for the variety, and so Clos Henri was born. They gained full Biogro organic certification in 2013.
