Benoit Ente Chassagne Montrachet Les Houillères 2020

$348.00

True to Benoit's style, this is all about taut, stern, understatement more than rich opulence. It's tightly wound, but with decanting, or even better some bottle age, this will be a joy to drink. It has intense length and line. The vineyard, Le Houillères, is in Chassagne Montrachet, sitting right on the border with Puligny Montrachet. The wine presents the best qualities of both, with Chassagne's nutty, savoury structure, and Puligny's steely minerality. It's a wine of outstanding provenance, with the vineyards being a stone’s throw from Le Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet.

With wine in his veins, coming from the famous Ente family, Benoit Ente began helping his aunt on the family estate in 1990. Having since taken over 6 hectares in Puligny and Chassagne Montrachet as well as Meursault, Benoit’s style has evolved over the years. The use of new oak and lees stirring has is now less, and the wines have become more pure and dynamic. The conversion to organic production is a further evolution.
